Carlito Dalceggio takes his inspiration in travels that define himself as well as his art. Being nomadic, his aesthetic is rooted in a tribal spirit he gleans when travelling.

Originally from Canada, Carlito Dalceggio lives and works in New York for the moment. His studio moves from place to place and follows his envy. During the past ten years, he already lived in Bali, Mexico, New York and Paris. Each of these cities keeps his creation going on and causes him to push his aesthetical symbiosis further through different mediums where painting is still central. Carlito Dalceggio has been performing « live paintings » in front of people since 1997. He participated to several inaugurations fot big events such as le Cirque du Soleil’s new show, as well as events for charity benefits.

To him, these performances liven up his creations by the trance sensation between the spectators, the people he works with and himself. As a silent dialogue, the artist uses this mystical energy interaction to create his pictorial work.

Carlito Dalceggio’s sketch books get quickly full and consist in his creative process. This about one hundred aesthetic adventure is led by a title through which he explores his ideas and his intuitions. A visual story issues from this chaotic representation, gathering many drawings and patterns from the environment ot the moment. When finished, the artist chooses different parts of his sketch books to create a set of paintings. Carlito Dalceggio refuses to sell his books even though he enjoys showing them off. They are parallel episodes of his production as if they were witnesses of his artistic development and his inspiration.

The pictorial work of Carlito Dalceggio could be summarised with tribality. His paintings refer to a way of life forgotten by modern occidental societies. In spite of the overwhelming urban environment, Carlito Delgaccio manages to arrange his studio so he can escape reality and recover the feelings encountered during his trips. He gets his inspiration from vernacularized symbols he isolates in order to give them a new signification and then juxtaposes them to create a new symbolism sometimes complex.

His paintings reflect recurrent patterns with deep significations. The hand, for instance, represents a strong symbol of human nature, and the cercle hints at the absolute eroticism of a perfect line. Carlito Dalceggio gives a pictorial rhythm to his paintings using unbroken lines that symbolize the infinite. Moreover he asserts his graphic choice of using coasts of paint on coasts of paint gives a dimension to colours and a scheming texture to the bidimensionnal surface.

Citizen of the world, Carlito Dalceggio looks for perfect unity between art and life. He is attentive to each detail of his existence to find keys for interpretation of freedom. Love, nature, vision and conscience remain themes of his inspiration and keep being rocked among the creative feeling of loneliness.
